Creating Broadcast Notifications
Updated over a week ago

The Broadcast Notification feature allows Admins to create short messages that are displayed to all users in the organization the next time they sign in to Allocadia.

Broadcast Notification messages are useful for communicating important or time-sensitive information about your Allocadia instance or activities. For example, you can use them to:

Before You Begin

  • To create, edit, or remove Broadcast Notifications, you must have the Company Admin user role. This role is typically held by Owner users.

  • Active Broadcast Notifications are visible to all users in an Allocadia instance, regardless of their user role or permissions.

Create a Broadcast Notification Message

You can create one Broadcast Notification message at a time. If you create a new message while there is already a message in place, the active message will be removed and replaced with the new message.

To create a new Broadcast Notification message, follow these steps:

  1. From any page in Allocadia, click the

    Broadcast Notification button:

  2. In the Broadcast Notifications menu, click Create new:

  3. In the Create Broadcast Message dialog, enter your message into the Message Body field:

Note: Your message can be up to 255 characters long. When you click into the Message Body field, a counter is displayed that shows the character limit, and how many characters you have used.

  4. Choose how you want the message to be displayed:

    • Select the Pop-up for all users checkbox to display the message automatically upon login (this option is turned on by default).

    • Deselect the Pop-up for all users checkbox to display a message notification badge in the menu bar that users must click to view the message:

  5. Click Publish.

Your Broadcast Notification message is published, and will be displayed to all users in your organization the next time they log in to Allocadia:

Note: If you selected the Pop-up for all users option, the dialog with the message will only be displayed to each user once.

After a user has dismissed the message dialog, it will not be automatically shown to them again until a new message is published. However, users can click on Broadcast Notifications > Current message to reopen the currently active message if needed:

Edit a Broadcast Notification Message

After you have published a Broadcast Notification message, you can make changes to it at any time.

To edit an existing Broadcast Notification message, follow these steps:

  1. From any page in Allocadia, click the

    Broadcast Notification button.

  2. In the Broadcast Notifications menu, click Edit:

  3. In the Edit Broadcast Message dialog, make the changes you want in the Message Body text field:

Note: Even if the Pop-up for all users checkbox is selected in this dialog, the message will not be automatically displayed again for any users who had already seen and dismissed the previous version.

If you are editing the message with important information that should be seen by all users, we recommend that you publish a new message instead.

  4. Click Save.

Users who view the Broadcast Notification message will now see the edited version.

Remove a Broadcast Notification Message

To stop displaying a Broadcast Notification message that is no longer needed, you can remove it at any time. When you remove a message, it is deleted permanently, and can't be recovered.

To remove an existing Broadcast Notification message, follow these steps:

  1. From any page in Allocadia, click the

    notification_important_24dp_2C2D30_FILL1_wght400_GRAD0_opsz24.png

    Broadcast Notification button.

  2. In the Broadcast Notifications menu, click Remove:

  3. In the confirmation dialog, click Remove.

The Broadcast Notification is removed, and will no longer be visible or accessible to any user in your Allocadia instance.
